Solved! Female Best Friends movie — lead actress later died
Around 1999 my BFF rented a movie about two British female friends. I think it covered a span of years with a time jump to show how their lives diverged, but they were friends in the end. There was a humorous bit they did where they would open a random book and chant something like “Miss Bronte, Miss Bronte, who shall I marry?” And then point at a name.
Sadly, I remember that one of the lead actresses died very unexpectedly maybe ten years ago, of something like an infection or a blood clot.
But I can’t remember the movie’s name—help please!
