Nationalized retirement doesn't work

https://www.npr.org/2019/12/05/785018695/national-strike-in-france-shuts-down-cities-over-macrons-pension-reform-plans

Eventually, this is going to be the US if we don't begin to cut social programs. Look at all the dem nominees. Medicare for all. $1000 monthly dividend. Student loans erased. Zero cuts. All spending. Social Security is nothing but a huge government ponzi scheme. States have their own pension bombs to handle as well, and yet unions keep asking for more and idiot komrades keep asking for more entitlements and yet they'll bitch about the debt getting bigger. Such hypocrites. 🙄 🙊🙉🙈

reply

Leftists don't care about empirical evidence. If they did they wouldn't be leftists in the 21st Century, with the benefit of the past 100 years spoonfeeding them a decisive historical verdict.

reply

Socialism has been proven many times that it doesn't work. Just look at Venezuela and Columbia. Bernie Sanders said years ago that it was a model Country.

reply

Now its pretty much 0 dollars.

reply

Simpleton Sandy is confused. France's social security system is fiscally very sound and is operating in the black since 2017 unlike America's.

The general strike is about pension reform - not soc. sec.. Macron is fiscally very conservative and is trying to make the French economy stronger and more competitive through different reforms which appear to be working. The pension system isn't nationalized, but centralized. U.S. and France are apples and oranges re: pension system and how the government works. And unlike in the U.S., the French can only voice discontent by marches unlike in the U.S. where local representives can be contacted and have more power.

Both Democrats and Republicans have been spending carelessly. Trump's taxcut for the rich is waste.

The irony is most Americans would probably like Macron as a president and support his reform and policies. He was born in the wrong country.

reply

Even as a "simpleton", at least I know that social security and pensions are both related to RETIREMENT funds. DDuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh........Pay attention, dunce.ðŸĪŠðŸĪŠðŸĪŠ

We already know that France pay a high rate of taxes for their social services. They are manipulating the pension benefits so basically people would have to work longer, thus diminishing their pension benefits already earned. The simple fact is, they aren't taking in enough, to be able to pay it all out. California has its own pension bomb building and the super majority in California does absolutely nothing to address it.

Yes, they both spend and nobody cuts and yet, you dems want a medicare for all, slave reparations, student loan relief and then you bitch about debt growing. You offer no feasible cuts or anything that is of significance.

The irony is most Americans would like Macron? Yeah. You dems would, but then you bitch about the nuclear power. That's the only thing France has going for it.

reply

You're living up to your name Simpleton Sandy.

Macron's political platform was to make major economic changes including The Labor Code (3,324 pages).

For example, in France, it was almost impossible to lay-off a full-time worker if your business was suffering. Therefore, young people couldn't find full-time jobs. Macron made it easier to hire and fire and now full-time employment for young people increased. He removed the punitive taxes on the rich so they wouldn't leave and made it easier for entrepreneurs to start businesses. Many of his reforms are helping the economy since employment is up, increases in business start-ups and foreign investments.

The pension reform is to streamline the 42 separate unequal pensions into one which is fair. For example, poorer workers were paying the pensions for wealthier workers. Some workers were able to retire at 52 while others had to wait until their 60s. Also, pensions will follow the worker making it easier for them to change jobs or careers.

The French just like to complain. Like you. They went ballistic when Macron lowered a monthly housing benefit by 5 euros (less than $5).

Most actually support pension reforms (76%), while at the same time support the strikers (46-69%). Notice the contradiction.

Macron has the guts to take on numerous reforms to make France an economic and cultural powerhouse. He didn't have to because there is no present crisis within the pension system and the social security system is in the black. They are different. He leads! Meanwhile, spineless U.S. Republicans who hate Trump grovel in front of him. And they gave the rich a taxcut which is bankrupting America.

France's health care system is better than the U.S.. They live longer 82.4 compared to the U.S. 78.6. They have less gun violence and high-speed trains. Their election system is better since Russia's attempt was a total failure unlike in the U.S. Also, the French have a better educational system and learn critical thinking skills.

reply

Macron also speaks English better than Trump.

reply

Look fat, here's the deal. Move to France then. You seem to like it so much.

Centralizing might make it easier for admin purposes, but it doesn't make it better nor does it make it competitive. Then again, it doesn't matter. What's the point of Macron getting involved? It's because these are government pensions. Thus, public workers. Thus, taxes are paid to pay off the pensions. Why are they making these changes? Because they aren't taking in what they have to pay out. Why are the French protesting? Because they are getting less for what they were promised. Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh........Look fat, you're not too smart, are you komrade? ðŸĪŠðŸĪŠðŸĪŠ

You mean to say you wouldn't bitch if you were owed $10 change and only got $5? Then again, you're not too smart and you just do what you're told like a good indoctrinee, yes?

They have better health care? Then leave. Have fun paying for other people's healthcare.

They live longer? Then leave. Have fun paying for other people's healthcare and retirement longer.

They have less gun violence? Then leave. You're a good little indoctrinated socialist.

They have high speed trains? Then leave. Have fun paying for high priced tickets.

They're election system is better than Russia and the US? Then leave. Go vote for your socialist.

They have a better education system? Then leave. It's never too late to educate a dunce like you. Flash cards, remember?ðŸĪŠðŸĪŠðŸĪŠ

reply

"...nuclear power. That's the only thing France has going for it. "

Simpleton Sandy, I clearly proved your comment wrong. There is no disagreement in your reply therefore you agree with me about France having many things going for it.

"Centralizing might make it easier for admin purposes"

Not necessarily. The U.S. may be the outlier in the world by giving so much power to local municipalities.

"What's the point of Macron getting involved?"

I told you. Macron is making the French economy more competitive. I know you like to stereotype France based on your old Fox propaganda, but Macron is very much a capitalist and surprisingly very American in his outlook which is why most French can't relate to him. He's considered too pro-business. Also, he's a self-made multi-millionaire (only $3 millionaire - a drop in the bucket by American standards) which makes him despised in France but respected in America.

Anyway, he also reformed the educational system and created an app in order for 18 y.o. to get freebie museum, movies, concerts, books, CDs and other cultural events and goods that's worth 500 euros. He will also spend 100s of millions to boost the French language overseas. He's ambitious and doesn't mind doing what former politicians couldn't.

"Why are the French protesting?
LOL! The French protests daily over everything. That's what they do.

"you wouldn't bitch if you were owed $10 change and only got $5?"
They're not "owed" anything. It's a freebie. Now whose the socialist? Socialist Sandy!

reply

Simpleton Sandy, I clearly proved your comment wrong. There is no disagreement in your reply therefore you agree with me about France having many things going for it.

When you pat yourself on the back, I know you're desperate. Just because you say so doesn't mean anything. You can't refute anything I say. What else is new?

Not necessarily. The U.S. may be the outlier in the world by giving so much power to local municipalities.

Speculation really enforces your argument.🙄🙄🙄

How is Macron making France more competitive, pray tell? Don't just make some claim and leave it at that. Tell me and prove it.

He created an app. Stop the presses! Macron created an app of teens can get freebies at museums and movies, etc. Wow! What a guy!🙄🙄🙄

He spent hundreds of millions of dollars outside of France to promote French abroad! I guess the French citizens won't be seeing that money come back anytime soon.🙄🙄🙄

The French are rioting, because they are always protesting daily! What a guy Macron is. His citizens are in constant protest!🙄🙄🙄

They aren't owed anything? What are their taxes going to? Freebies?! That's what their getting with their tax dollars? To pay for freebies to the teens for their museums and movies? Seriously, how stupid is that?ðŸĪĢ😆ðŸĪĢ

Damn Keelai, you've been indoctrinated HARD. 😆ðŸĪĢðŸĪĢ

reply

Simpleton Sandy, there STILL is no disagreement in your reply therefore you STILL agree with me about France having many things going for it.

165 out of 193 UN member countries have a unitary system. The U.S. has a federal system which makes sense considering how the Founding Fathers felt about limiting power through checks and balances.

"French is projected to experience a huge surge, tripling to 750 million speakers by 2050, due to population growth in Sub-Saharan Africa. This would make French the most commonly spoken language in the world, resulting in approximately 8% of the world’s population speaking French, whereas the representation of English could decline to as few as 3%!"

The French have been protesting long before Macron.
"France has a certain reputation for its penchant for protest. It's not just a stereotype: The country has a long tradition of sometimes-radical political protests, one that goes back to at least the 19th century."
https://www.vox.com/2015/7/6/8887667/france-protest

Republicans hate education and intellectualism which is the reason you don't understand why exposing young people to culture by reading books, visiting museums, learning a musical instrument and watching plays are important. There is a huge difference in how a Republican Frenchman expresses himself and how you do which is why your new nickname Simpleton fits you so well.

reply

You're an idiot, so what else is new?

Your point???

So?

You say Macron is so good. Doesn't seem to be doing a good job with the citizens, which doesn't support your argument, does it?

You love the app!ðŸĪĢðŸĪĢðŸĪĢ How much taxes do the French have to pay so the teens could get their freebies? How stupid are you that you don't see this as a guise to raise taxes? Then again, it's you.

Those things are important? Are the teens being forced to go or is it just free? Just because it's free doesn't mean the teens are going to utilize it. Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..... Seriously, how stupid are you?

Why don't you leave it to the parents to educate their kids? Instead, you're so stupid and so indoctrinated that you would allow the state to tax its citizens under the guise of education, when the app doesn't even guarantee any education at all. How stupid is that?

You're a dunce komrade keelai. The flash cards, remember? You need basic logic skills.

reply

Thank you Simpleton for doing me a favor. You just reminded me that MY city has a culture pass, too! And unlike France, my city's culture pass is available for everyone. It'll easily save me a few hundred each year.

reply

Good for you! You'd better utilize it since you are paying local taxes for it. Enjoy!

BTW, I noticed no answers to my replies. What else is new, komrade dunce? Flash card, remember?

reply

Why wouldn't a freebie trip to a movie theater be popular? Your questions are silly.

Actually, my area has three different cultural passes. One for lower income families and two for all residents. Only one uses the cultural pass name, though.

One event would've cost me $33. And they provide two tickets so I can invite a friend. $66 tickets for free!

reply

Only a dim dunce like you would ask such a stupid question. What's the point in paying for something if you're not going to use it? Why should something be subsidized? If I'm a family that doesn't want to go to the movies, why should I have to pay tax so other people can go? Why not just drop the tax all together and let the people that want to go pay for themselves??? That's called a win win. Everybody pays less tax and the people that want to go to movies, still get to go and only pay when they do go.

However, you would rather steal money by mandating a tax on everybody so you don't have to pay full price. Socialist much? What else is new?ðŸĪŠðŸĪŠðŸĪŠ

reply

The payoff is fewer stupid people. A society is only as good as its weakest link.

reply

In a socialistic society, like the one you want, EVERYONE IS STUPID. They have ZERO INDEPENDENT THOUGHT, just like you and the state will work to keep it that way. How stupid are you? Seriously? Flash cards, remember? Get the flash cards!ðŸĪŠðŸĪŠðŸĪŠ

$100,000,000,000,000 (100 trillion for the democrat lemmings) in proposed spending from the communist Democrat party candidates. We take in about 4.5 trillion in federal tax revenue. See a problem?

If we taxed everyone 100%, we’d take in about 10 trillion. See a problem?

Is it any surprise the communist Democrat party of no ideas, no solutions, no platform, is focusing on distractions? Hundreds of millions spent on baseless investigations, dozens of witnesses, still zero evidence of collusion or quid pro quo. See a problem?

There is much work to do. The most corrupt, close minded, miseducated people in the country run our education industry and big news media. We cannot continue on this path.

reply

we are due to run out of money by 2040 i have heard...its basically a ponzi scheme

reply

Try cutting the military budget. Try extracting $$ from the 1% and the 1% of the 1%. Try treating citizens with dignity and not detritus. What do you propose? Soylent green?

reply

Cutting the military budget would do two things. Jack and shit. Cutting billions isn't going to do anything when you need trillions not to mention it won't address the Ponzi scheme at all. Taxing the 1%. That's what all you progressives say is the answer, yet you continue to fail to look at the big picture of it.

Let's say you do tax the 1% and get all of the funding from that alone. Now what happens? What is the 1% going to do? First thing they'll do is leave so they can avoid paying the taxes. What does that do? It reduces your tax income. What else? Jobs. All the jobs they provided are now gone. What does that do? Reduces your income tax income and increases your entitlement spending.

What about the ones that stay and pay the 1%? What do they do? They increase their prices to compensate for the tax they have to pay. Basically, they are redistributing the tax back on the middle class.

What do we do? It's already been proposed, but idiots like you rejected it. End pensions and switch to a 401K system. This includes all govt workers as well. It's as simple as that.

reply

Defense spending has gone from a majority of the federal budget in the 1950s (appropriate since defense is government's most legitimate reason for existing) to less than 20% of it today, and yet that's the only spending Democrats are willing to cut.

Social Security was solvent until the Bush admin raided it to pay for its wars against countries that didn't even attack us.

reply

Wrong as usual. If the life expectancy increases and there are less people paying into the system, what happens? Eventually, the system is going to have a negative cash flow. That's basic common sense. Not too smart, are you phony boy? What else is new?

reply

I agree with Iraq being a pointless waste, but the Twin Towers didn't just fall down on their own. Bush had to to take action against Bin Laden. Of course now we have been in Afghanistan way too long but we didn't just go in there for no reason.

reply

Wrong as others have pointed out, and I'll add that if people like you hadn't blocked Bush's private account social security reform we wouldn't be in this mess.

DOW
2005 - 10,000
2019 - 28,000

What a wasted opportunity. Think about how much better countless lives would have been by now. All the low income workers who would have accumulated great wealth they owned and could pass down to their children. We should still implement it for the future though.

reply

Sure sucks the Bush admin raided Social Security to pay for his wars, making it insolvent.

The robber barons got away with it. We COULD take it back from them and put it back in to SS, making it solvent again.

But the oligarchs and the Trump cult believe their theft means we should get rid of SS all together. That means stealing more money from those who have already paid into it.

Conservatism is just a legal way for wealthy people to steal from poor people. There is no conservatism any more. Just crony capitalism.

Come at me, peanut gallery. :)

reply

Sure sucks the Clinton admin did the same. Sure sucks the Obama admin did the same. Hypocrite much? Doesn't change the fact it's a Ponzi scheme does it?

Take it back? Sure. Let's cut entitlements across the board, yes? That's where the majority is being paid out to. You don't address the fact that the taxpayer base cannot pay all the way to the top of the pyramid. Once again, like a dunce dem you are, you BITCH AND MOAN about the problems yet do NOTHING to solve the problems YOU CREATED.

That's right. All the money for social security is stolen. How stupid are you? Was SS funds ever earmarked? No. So what does that mean? The funds are general, meaning they can be spent on ANYTHING. Where is the majority of the government spending going to? ENTITLEMENTS. And what do you dems want to do? EXPAND ENTITLEMENTS. Seriously, how stupid are you, phony boy?

Move to Venezuela. It's Sean Penn endorsed. ðŸĪŠðŸĪŠðŸĪŠ
