It's from a local paper here in Wisconsin. I haven't seen much national reporting on this. At least, when I googled it only a couple of local papers had the story.
Update: I see a couple of national news outlets now picking up the story.
Not that it would have mattered if it were a gun. We'd be told the police should have waited until the gun was in hand and they could see it before shooting.
