bluray wont play on laptop

I have one bluray disc that won't play and just displays a coloured screen with the sound from the bluray - it only affects this disc so I bought a replacement one however the new disc does the exact same thing - none of my other discs have this problem so I'm confused as to why it would just do this on both copies of the same title ?

the first thing that comes to mind...

is there an update to the software you use to play your bluray discs? ; that's the first thing i would try if possible.

from a quick look around online it appears there is more of a limited amount of software that works for playing bluray discs which seems to be only WinDVD and PowerDVD.

because obviously there is nothing wrong with the disc itself it's surely got to be on the laptop side of things. probably some copy protection BS is my guess as to why it's acting up which is why i figure that's why a software update could be the quick fix. is that a very new movie or a bit older? (i would guess something recent)

I have tried another bluray playing software which the disc works fine on - for some reason it's just Cyberlink Powerdvd it won't play with

So can't you just use the other software?

are you using the newest version of Cyberlink PowerDVD? ; because if not, a update of that software could fix the issue i suspect.

i don't playback bluray's directly on my computer as for SD or HD movies i just play them through my computer to my 43" TV through the PC's HDMI port. i got a 20' HDMI cable connected between my PC and HDTV.

p.s. in general... i use Pot Player x64 (i.e. http://www.videohelp.com/software/PotPlayer) for all of my video playback on my PC for SD or HD movies.
