Windows 10 shoving unnecessary updates down our throats?

Wow! The downtime (from the updates) lasted for over an hour because Win 10 kept rebooting a dozen times. They need to give it a break. They're being waaaay too agressive in forcing anniversary updates to Windows 10 users (Cumulative Update: x64 Version 1607). My last update really slowed down my PC. I'm running i7 processor by the way and I'm starting to regret that I made a huge mistake upgrading my good ol' user friendly Windows 8.0 which worked just fine, mind you. Does anyone else feel that the new update is using up CPU resources thereby lowering the performance?
