Ignaz Pleyel was the 24th of 38 children.

This has been your factoid of today.

I quite like Pleyel, even though he often appears as just a pale imitation of his teacher (Haydn). His works appear on disc quite often these days, right down to complete cycles of his string concertos and sinfonia concertantes.

I don't know who that was, but how can somebody be the 24th child of JFC 38 children?! How is that possible? Don't they have any other hobbies?

So I can't find any details on this, but I'm pretty confident in guessing that he was in fact more like one of 12 children, born to a mother whose husband was previously married to another woman who also had about 12 children.

Anyway he sucks so who cares?

Did any of the remaining 37 write any interesting music? Hopefully so, because from what little I've heard, Ignaz certainly didn't.
