Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

Love these guys. But I don't know that many of their songs. Trying to discover more great ones. Sad how a lot of their songs after Fishin in the Dark weren't really that big, but they should've been. What other later NGDB songs have that type of feel?

Favorite songs:

Mr. Bojangles
Fishin' in the Dark
Baby's Got a Hold On Me
When It's Gone
Blow Out the Stars, Turn out the Moon
Hillbilly Hollywood

Listening to their 1990 album "The Rest of the Dream" and I don't know how the hell any of those songs didn't reach the top 5 on the Country Billboard especially Blow Out the Stars, and Hillbilly--but they weren't released as singles. Out of the 2 singles released, You Make Life Good Again was the best. Wasn't crazy about From Small Things. I absolutely love the harmonica. I may live in Western NY, far from "redneck" land but that type of music with the harmonica is very comforting to me.

Check out the movie 'Paint Your Wagon.' They provided a lot of the music, including the dance scene, in which they all performed.

- Crazy. All crazy but I'm.

Wow, I thought they were a young band in the '90s.

Had no idea they were around in the '60s.

Yeah, the NGDB has been around for AGES. They enjoyed a revival in the 1980s with songs like 'Fishing In The Dark,' when other bluegrass bands were falling by the wayside.

Western NY has a lot of rednecks. Rednecks are not Southern they are all over.

I like them too. My band and I like to do a cover from them called "Shot Full Of Love". Great band.
