Funny how you kept seeing the 'D'oh' message appear practically every time you clicked on anything on IMDB for the past day or two, as if they were getting people to leave more quickly on account of it pissing them off.

To me, it just felt like a bunch of employees who didn't care after finding out that the company no longer needed them.

Yes it is all gone (a day early too) but some of it live on here and on a few other websites. Eventually one will dominate the rest, but it will take some time before one of the three or four sites that I joined moves into the lead.
IMDb has never cared about anyone except themself, and how they handle the whole situation prove that. I have absolutely no itention of going there ever again. I will save my list and rating, delete them off IMDb and then log off.

shareSadly none of these alternative sites will ever get anything like the forum user numbers IMDB had, even if one does dominate. IMDB has the universal brand. Every film lover knows of its existence, and if anyone doesn't then they're going to know pretty quickly after a basic Google search. Not so for these replacement sites.
shareYep I figured they'd at least be up till tonight. I've been gone all day and very busy but had free time to check the boards after lunch then when I finally got home and relax only to see they are gone. It's not even the 20th here in the USA.
shareBeen on IMDB 15 years--when I first came on there, there was nothing on there but an actor's name and the titles of their films--that was all. I didn't see anything wrong with the boards--there are other sites besides IMDB that have trolls on their boards, but they aren't shutting them down. And trolls have been on IMDB for years, so that wasn't the only reason the boards were shut down. They made a big mistake, since the boards were the main draw of the site.
