Disappearing posts? Answer/solution is here

Once upon a time I, along with others, have tried to reply to posts, hit submit, only to find the post is empty.

I soon discovered what the issue was by replicating the same mistake with some tweaks, so I contacted Jim via email to draw his attention to the bug which can only be done via email otherwise demonstrating it in here will self-delete. It was discovered not a bug but a temporary security measure.

His response was:

"Hey babestation, currently our software blocks users from writing (insert naughty bracket here) as those are used for html/javascript, and thus allowing users to write those naughty brackets are a security issue. For example, anyone could post a malicious picture or code if we allowed those symbols, so we've blocked them for now. There is one exception: you can use the symbols to make clickable links, as described in this post: http://www.moviechat.org/movies/general/posts/58af568b39d01d0011d2a026";

So to make things clear, I've illustrated what will have your post contents deleted. When writing messages, do not type with this bracket Arrow not allowed UNLESS you want to make clickable links. Otherwise anything after that bracket your message will self-delete, including the bracket itself. Or unless you create a space between the bracket and text. This one seems to be okay Arrow works regardless.

Sorry guys, it means we can't type cyber love hearts to our admirers.

Anyway, hope this helps to reduce the tears of those still wondering why.

P.S. For the record, Jim didn't use such terms as 'naughty'. That errr, would be mine.

Thanks for the updates and clarification, Babestation, as I previously tried quoting either you or Cookie.L.A. (where these brackets were used) to where it cut off my post as well. I believe the same thing may have happened to Styxnyx too.

You're welcome. They'll find this thread eventually.

Please excuse my poor Photoshop skills... But at least I got to write a cyber heart there damn it.
