ads on the moviechat.org site now?

I don't know if this is new or I just didn't notice it, but there are some really obnoxious ads that play on this site now. Not only do some autoplay videos repeatedly but they are also causing little glitches on the web pages making. So annoying.

reply

There have been ads on the site for awhile now, but I noticed they seemed bigger and like you said videos. I also don't remember that there were ever ads on the notifications page.

reply

yeah my notification page does not have it, but the home page and all discussion have them. The video ones are the worse. It is really annoying to have the ad keep popping up every time you switch to a different page and the same ad needs to be muted again and again. really annoying.

reply

All my pages have them. They used to be banner ads, but now are square and video. Its all good though, what can ya do.. gotta pay the bills somehow around here.

reply

I don't mind the ads with exception of the videos and the autoplay they do. It is really annoying. videos should be disabled. other than that I'd be fine.

reply

No vids on my iPad...although all of the pics on the home page are smashed together as well as the text for movies playing now and trending titles...not bitching...would rather have squashed pics than annoying vids!

reply

yeah I agree. squashed pics would be far less annoying than these vids. It is not just here though those happen on other sites too, embedded ad vids that autoplay when you scroll by them. I can't help think "shut the f up" whenever one of those blasts in my ear. It is especially annoying because the embedded video does not know what your volume is turned to; so if you are listening to music as you search the web then the freaking ad blasts your ears.

reply

The videos are gone for me now. Are you still getting them? Its back to banner ads.

reply

Yeah I am still getting them but I think now the audio for them only plays when I move the cursor over the video. That is a lot better then it blasting the entire time I am on the page.

reply

Yeah, that would drive me nuts. The ones I saw didn't have any audio, or at least I didn't hear it. Maybe some day there will be a subscription to have the site without ads for a couple dollars a month the way all the apps do it. That would be cool.

reply

Just yesterday on my phone I got the first video ad that took over the whole screen. That was not a happy development... But I guess it's unavoidable?

Anyway, I got that email from Wikipedia asking me to donate again. I guess putting in another $5 can't hurt.

reply

Are you still getting them? They seem to be gone for me. Unless its just an every once in a while type of thing.

reply

This adds are occupying 1/3 of my screen...verry annoying.

reply

Yeah that is too much. I am getting that too. This is way too much having ads as a banner or footer would be fine; but this side bar eating up as you said 1/3 of the web page is obnoxious.

reply

I'm using a smartphone,so 1/3 of my screen is too much.

reply

I am on a laptop and it is annoying being on a smartphone would drive me crazy I would need reading glasses to see the letters.

reply

Well...i do have glasses😉

reply

lol that is good.

reply

Well...i don't wore them because is...trendy,i do have eye problems😉

Yeah, this site has more and more going against it by the day. But honestly there is not many other good places out there right now for movie and general discussion. Do you know of any better sites out there? personally I don't like reddit because it has too many rules and restrictions and each topic is too specific.

Yeah I tried only a couple others too. Most are either poorly laid out or just do not have enough traffic. beggars can't be choosers I guess. It is hard to capture a lot of traffic and I see this site is trying to generate more revenue with ads, I just wish it was not so obnoxious; which might turn people off and they'll leave.
