Help identying a TV Series

I recently saw a commercial for a fictional series about the Russians beating us in the space program. I thought it was called Red Moon because I saw a blurb but now can't find any info on it at all. What is the name? Is it already started or upcoming?

reply

That's it. Thank you. I just looked at trailer and see what I thought was a blurb was actually a newspaper heading. Thanks again. Unfortunately I don't have Apple TV.

reply

Fictional??? I'm pretty sure that's what they did in real life. They launched the first man into space.

reply

But we don’t know how many they launched before 1 of them lived.

reply

That's right, you have no clue whatsoever. But at least they didn't blow up a teacher on live tv...

reply

but they couldn't build a toaster.

reply

What kind of nonsense is that?

reply

This goes back to the 1960s when an American journalist visited the USSR and discovered how bad things were. He asjked how can you put a man in space and build a hydrogen bomb but can't build a decent toaster? The USSR wasn't great at making appliances and such.

reply

American journalists ALWAYS found other contries bad.

reply

Emma Goldman also wanted out. Even Lee Harvey Oswald couldn't take it.

reply

Total lack of logic. It seems the guy didn't understand the difference between a government wanting to spend money on projects to demonstrate its power and not wanting to spend money on luxury goods its citizens can't even afford.

reply

I don't think a washer and dryer are luxury goods.

reply

We were talking about toasters.😑

They were pretty much a luxury for a long time, especially drying machines. I still wash some clothing by hand. But if the people couldn't even afford a toaster, why would they be able to afford a washer and dryer???

I just don't get your point. It's a fact that SU space technology was superior for quite a while. But I've noticed this is a sensitive issue for some Americans.😐

reply

I think by the 1960s, household appliances such as toasters, washers and dryers were standard for most houses in the USA and Canada. The Soviets should have spent more on these items than on bombs and the military. Who knows? They may have still been around.

reply

I remember my parents buying our first dryer in the late 80s. Before that, we had things called "clothes lines".

I did some googling and, yes, even toasters were around back in the good, old USSR. They just weren't in demand.

I think all countries should spend less on bombs and military, but I can't deny that sending the first man into space was pretty darn impressive. I don't see why we can't just cooperate in our exploration of space instead of turning it into a competition.

reply

clothes lines don't work well in the winter.

reply

They do work inside in a backroom.

reply

do you turn a fan on?

reply

In the winter?? No, just the heating.

reply

I thought the point of a clothes line was the wind. It has been years since i have seen one.

reply

Not sure what you think one should do when you have wet clothes, but no dryer???

reply

try one of these small ones. Weighs only 40 lbs. My son has one of these.

reply

The link doesn't work. But I have no need for a dryer. My washing machine can spin dry and if I hang my clothes on a clothes line, I can wear them the next day.

reply

I was born in 1950 and my mother did laundry with a ringer washer and laundry tubs in the basement. We didn't have an automatic washer until I was a teenager.
She hung clothes outdoors in nice weather and during the winter on lines in the basement where it took clothes several days to completely dry. She finally got a dryer, but nothing smells as good as things dried outside when the sun is shinning.

Like living in the Dark Ages, right?!😉
