What do you think of White Castle?

I honestly like those cheese sliders, I know I'm in the minority but I really do. Sadly there's none in my town, so I just get the frozen ones.

reply

Which they were a bit more common, not that many around America.

The idea of putting holes in the burgers so you don't have to flip them is very innovative.

reply

They are pretty good little burgers

reply

Love White Castle. Nowadays I can only get the frozen ones in the supermarket. They are good, but not as good as hot off the grill at a store.

reply

Thinkin' the honkey's gonna get themselves cancelled wit' dat name!

Why whitey get himself a castle, eh?

reply

Absolutely delish!!!!! Never had the frozen ones and I don't imagine they are as greasy as the real thing.

When I was a little girl in the 50's a bag of 20 burgers,(no cheese) could be bought for $1 - yes, they were 5 cents!!!!!

reply

Only if prices were that cheap today...I'd blow twenty dollars on white castle haha

reply

My dad told me stories of getting a huge sack of sliders from WC and taking them in at a Reds game. So cheap then.

reply

HAD WHITE CASTLE ONCE...DURING MY TWO MONTHS LIVING IN NEW YORK...THEY WERE GOOD..I LIKED THEM...HAVENT HAD AN ADVENTURE TRYING TO RECAPTURE THEM THOUGH...

reply

I had 5 sliders today! The closest one where I live is about 90 minutes away, but there is one about 20 minutes away from my parents near Dayton.

Went to Kings Island yesterday and on the way back to Fort Wayne this afternoon I took the scenic route home to stop in Trotwood just for White Castle!
They are delicious. As the guy in Harold and Kumar says "just something about those little flavor crystals ".

However it's something I'd get sick of quickly if I ate it too often. Once every 2 months or so is perfect.

They are so soft and melty. I use one packet of ketchup per slider.

"Went to Kings Island yesterday"

I haven't been there in probably 25 years! Or Cedar Point. 🙁
I used to go there a lot in my single days with a group of friends but after getting married I only went once in a while.

The Beast is my favorite! I could stay on that coaster all day with no breaks.
So what's it like there these days? Tell me all about the coasters!

reply

The Beast is still awesome. Just the same as you remember I'm sure. I loved their newest coaster Orion, which I think has the 10th highest drop in the world.

It got up to 95 mph but was very smooth and enjoyable.

Mystic Timbers is fun as well. Really had a great time.

The only coaster I can't do anymore is Flight of Fear. The opening launch is ok but the rest of the ride was too shifty for me. I felt like I needed an aspirin afterwords.

Cedar Point is still better for thrill rides but plenty of thrills at Kings Island and it still has that great childhood atmosphere.
And I thought wearing a mask all day would bother me but it was a non issue.

We got the unlimited drinks for $15 which I recommend because one drink alone was like $6, so it is well worth it.

Oh and we got the fast passes, or as I call them the fuck off passes.

Could get right to the front of the line and while some waited an hour to ride Orion I was on in 3 minutes.

The evil eyes I got from non fast pass holders was funny.

I probably go every 2 years so.when I do go I like to go all out. Fast pass, unlimited food and drinks.

U should go with your spouse I went with my son and gf and everyone had a great time,

reply

I live less than 30 minutes from Kings Island, but haven't been there this year. Glad to hear you had fun.
Agree, a Fast Pass is the way to go.

"The Beast is still awesome. Just the same as you remember I'm sure."

That's good to hear.

"I loved their newest coaster Orion, which I think has the 10th highest drop in the world."

Do you know how high?

"It got up to 95 mph but was very smooth and enjoyable."

Sounds so fun!

"Mystic Timbers is fun as well. Really had a great time."

I'm gonna have to look these rides up on YouTube.

"The only coaster I can't do anymore is Flight of Fear. The opening launch is ok but the rest of the ride was too shifty for me. I felt like I needed an aspirin afterwords."

Yeah I don't like the shifty ones. There are some where you feel beaten up after. I prefer a smooth, fun ride. Wooden kind are my favorites. I enjoy hilly-type. Not big on the loopy ones. They don't do much for me. The Beast is perfect. It's a longer ride, hidden in a forest with a second uphill climb. It's the best. Especially at night! Just keep your mouth closed or you may eat some bugs. 😂
They had the first stand up coaster (if memory serves me correctly). It wasn't very long but the concept was so new. We rode the heck out of that thing. Cedar Point eventually got one too. The Mantis? It was wicked!

"Cedar Point is still better for thrill rides but plenty of thrills at Kings Island and it still has that great childhood atmosphere."

Couldn't agree more! Kings Island is on an episode of The Brady Bunch and The Partridge Family. Those were my favorite episodes just to see the park!

"And I thought wearing a mask all day would bother me but it was a non issue."

See, that right there would stop me from going. 😝

"We got the unlimited drinks for $15 which I recommend because one drink alone was like $6, so it is well worth it."

Drinks (and food) are expensive. At Six Flags in Gurnee, Il., you can buy a cup for $20 to use for the entire season and pay .99 for refills.

"Oh and we got the fast passes"

What do they charge for that? Expensive, I bet.

The Orion drops 300 feet and gets up to 91 MPH. Very fast but the ride is smooth and I was snug in my seat so it didn't feel that fast.

The standup coaster K.I had was called King Cobra. I remember it quite well. It was a really short ride but that also made the line move quickly.

I think the Fast Passes price can vary depensding on the day you go, but it was $95 when I went. So the total I paid for my own admission was $140. 45 for admission and 95 for the pass.

reply

Oh nice! If you were snug, no -G's?

Yes! King Cobra! You're right, the line went fast because the ride was quick.
That ride is gone, correct?

Well if you can afford the fast pass...me, I'd rather just go on a day where it's not as busy and save the money.

"Could get right to the front of the line and while some waited an hour to ride Orion I was on in 3 minutes."

Great!

"The evil eyes I got from non fast pass holders was funny."

I'm sure. I've never bought the fast passes but I usually was a season pass holder and would go frequently to certain amusement parks. I could only imagine how much more expensive they are now! Dare I ask?

"I probably go every 2 years so.when I do go I like to go all out. Fast pass, unlimited food and drinks."

Makes sense.

"U should go with your spouse I went with my son and gf and everyone had a great time"

He's not big into it. We've gone to smaller parks, like Indiana Beach with our kids and he wasn't a fan of their big coasters, which to me are baby coasters.

reply

They certainly slide through the digestive system.
