I just moved close to a Trader Joes, and I am loving it.

I've shopped there before but for the last 3 weeks its my closest grocery store. I love all their prepared meals. Bye bye WholeFoods.

Trader Joes is a grocery store? I thought it was a mechanic.

I don't think I have ever set foot in our local TJs.
Like the Yogi Berra comment about the restaurant no one goes to anymore because it's too crowded, this Joe's is at a very busy outdoor mall with tons of chaotic traffic where I don't mind driving past it but don't care to stop in. Also looks like where some of the better-off people go to, which isn't a lure to me either.
I'm not dissing your comment and I would like to check out TJs, but I'd have to go out of my way and the whole set-up just doesn't seem worth it. I did stop in Whole Foods once or twice, and I think they are also known as Whole Paychecks so that was discouraging.

Its really about the prepared meals. Their entire frozen food section is their products..Here's a list of what I got last time for 3.99 or less per meal...Mini Quiche, Beef Pho, Olive Chicken bites, Shrimp tikka masala, Chicken Shu mai, hatch chili mac and cheese, soup dumplings and philly cheesesteak bao buns..Thats whats in my freezer:)

Wonderful. I'm envious.
I feel like jokingly saying "... and does that make you HAPPY ??" but no, I'm envious that I am unable to share in these treats with someone I presumedly would enjoy hanging out with, not like you were gloating about it.
I do have one friend who might be a TJ shopper so maybe we'll make a date for it. Now you have me curious.
Interestingly, there is no guarantee the prices in your area will be the same in mine. If they end up having reasonably priced meals, I'll be shocked. I don't live in some high-falutin' suburb, but decent meals that are ready to eat (even frozen) aren't especially cheap from what I recall. But I'm not much of a shopper either.

I hope some other pro-Joe posters chime in with you.

I am a really bad cook. This way I can have two bites of something kind of decadent and not over do my diet.

Did you see a werewolf drinking a pina colada?

reply

No..., if its a choice between eating fast food and buying prepared meals from TD...Im good with that:)

It was a joke...from the Warren Zevon song...and it was Trader Vic's

I'm Over My Head, but it sure feels nice.
Your mood is like a Circus Wheel, keeps changing all the time
Sometimes I can't help but feel that I'm wasting
All of my time

Another song reference. If I indulge myself, I will come up with a song reference every other minute.
I'm sure it's annoying and another sign as to why I live alone, haha.

I like Trader Joe's, too. I wish they'd build one in my city. The closest store is about 45 miles away, although I do make the trip occasionally.

I don't believe we get those in Canada.

I think everyone who's been there loves it. They have some great Foie gras. And clams in garlic butter sauce.
