Worst Christmas Ever

Literally just got tested for COVID-19 today and it came back positive, merry Christmas to me I guess. And 26th birthday too, since it comes up on Monday. Two Weeks stuck at home in my apartment, the ultimate Christmas/birthday present.

Sorry to hear that. Hope you feel better soon.

Looks like it's an opportunity to have a grand movie marathon with lots of Chinese food and a nacho buffet. Hopefully your symptoms are minimal and quick!

reply

Yeah that sucks. Hope it’s a mild case for you and you can at least have a relaxing Christmas in quarantine.

reply

sorry to hear that SonyToprano. do some binge watching.

That's awful news. Make sure you face time people as much as you can. It does really help if you're feeling lonely 😔

2 weeks is nothing. Look at the bright side at least you’ll be with your love ones.

Miss my Christmas family reunion? That would mean ...

... not having to watch It's A Wonderful Life for the gazillionth time.

... not having to see Uncle Fred get looped and rant about we've gotta "kick the goddamn Commies' asses" in Inchon because they've fluouridated our water to damage American children's brains,

... not having to taste and compliment Aunt Gracie's latest culinary mediocrity; she's not a very good cook but she believes anything home made must be better than what you can get at a store.

... not having to watch Dan and Sarah use their child as an emotional ping-pong ball in their dysfunctional marriage.

... not having to listen to religious maniac Christpoher, who can't go for sixty seconds without mentioning God or Jesus. Imagine watching a football game in the same room with this conversation -- "Wow, what a catch! Did you see that?" "Yep, the Lord was with him on that one." (True story.)

... not having to be civil when Jack goes into his usual rant, that everyone on the other side of the political spectrum from him is an idiot. (Namecalling is the height of intellectual discourse for him.)

Christmas away from the family? Shit, Bubba, that would be a vacation!

Oh wait, that's right ... we're not getting together this year because of COVID. Oh, darn! :)

Gotta look on the bright side, pal. Hope the COVID goes OK, but it probably will since you're 26. And happy birthday from a fellow Christmas baby, we're just a few days and thirty years apart.

Haha, thank you man.

Holy crap! That drama reads like a scene from Home for the Holidays. Ya know, it's perfectly legal to skip the Christmas party and I'd support you.

A few of my relatives are wild or dysfunctional, but at least they know how to cook. Their Grandmas taught them well.

The religious maniac is a distant relative and only through marriage. I've only met him once, at my aunt's funeral. A truly bizarre dude. And yes, he really said, "the Lord was with him on that one," and couldn't let a minute go by without mentioning God or Jesus. Also a physical fitness fanatic, but more than just a guy who keeps in shape. There's 1 Corinthians 6:19, the verse about your body being a temple of the Holy Spirit. He strongly believes that when he works out he's glorifying God. A jock for Jesus, doing pushups for the Lord.

Sadly, Jack and Dan are real and are in fact the same person. Sarah married him when she was too young to know any better but finally got out of the emotionally abusive marriage. You can imagine what growing up in that sort of family did to their daughter. She's an adult now and has some problems. Anyway, he's a pure bastard but fortunately I only have to see him once in a blue moon. I could write a whole book about that SOB.

And we're not doing any gatherings because of COVID. Everything else is fictional, my attempt at humor. I kinda wish there was an Uncle Fred, he might liven things up.
