I'm the same old trouble you've been having for years
tom petty, its not close.

shareTom Petty slightly more. He had a range of themes to his music a person could hear and feel peaceful. John Mellencamp has written a lot of folksy songs about politics and working class struggles. Those subjects certainly have a place in music, but many of Mellencamp's songs make me feel depressed and uneasy, no matter how nice the guitar or fiddle sounds.
