what is name of this 2008ish era ghost movie

there was this movie i watched as a kid made between 2006-2010. i forgot the plot but the main character had long straight blackish hair, kinda emoish, kinda looked like Antony from Smosh. what i remember of the story was he ends up dying by some waterfall or dam or something and becomes a ghost. i forgot most of it but remember one scene when the cop is searching his room after he died and finds a bible or book with a bunch of cash in it and asks if he sold drugs but the main character didnt. he made his money by writing essays for other students in class or something along those lines cheating for kids at school. i forgot much else about the film but i do remember i enjoyed it and liked the vibe of it. really want to watch it again but cant remember the name of it to save my life
