BEST OSCAR ACCEPTANCE SPEECH EVER

I grids acceptance speech for her win for ORIENT EXPRESS/ is heart felt, heart warming, full of integrity and would bring a tear to a statues eye! Such class compare it to the so called superstars of today! She starts almost dismissively by saying it is always very nice to win an Oscar ....a laugh out loud moment and then tells them why they got it wrong and why she does not I understand it, and I have to say I am in full agreement with her! How could it win best foreign film in 1974 and then Valentina Cortese be nominated for the same film in 1975? Ingrid spent the whole of her acceptance time praising Valentina, apologises to her and says being a rival in same category she did not like it at all. Such selflessness , does it not just make you want to cheer this wonderful actress?

Agree. And also take a look at the closing act she gave at the AFI gala for Hitch in 2978. That was as moving an act as you can ever see in this show business.

With due respect, Ingrid winning the Oscar over Valentina is the biggest WTF moment in Oscar history. I have seen many, many, many crazy Oscar picks (more than I could ever remember), but none as crazy as this. Ingrid will always be an acting legend no matter what, and there was no need to give her an Oscar for a two-bit role in which she hammed terribly. If I won an Oscar for such a role, I would go up to stage and scream at the Academy members for their incompetence. She did the same, but in a diplomatic way. I'll give her credit for that.
