Would have been a great Joker!

Imagine if the 40's Batman had an A-list cast, James Cagney channelling the madness of Cody Jarrett would of been amazing, I'd also cast Cary Grant as Batman!

I agree.

That would have been awesome. Unfortunately at that time Batman was relegated to cheap Saturday afternoon matinee serials.

Doesn’t stop me from dreaming, I’d also have Edward G. Robinson as The Penguin, Paul Muni as Scarecrow, Humphrey Bogart as Two-Face and Ava Gardner as Catwoman.

I’ve no idea who could play Robin though! 😀

reply

Donald O'Connor.

reply

The only O'Connor I know is the one called Des! 😀

Would have fit well too as The Riddler in the Adam West series (in his 30s or early 40s anyway)

reply

I would have loved to have seen him in that show!

I think I read that casting was pondered by Orson Welles for real in the 40s but comics werent considered A list for movies.
