For me it’s the opposite - I have never been less than impressed by one of his performances. Many of his characters are larger than life but Robinson commands the screen even in lesser films. He is, of course, known for his hard-boiled roles but could also be exceptionally tender or very funny when the role called for it. One of the greatest screen actors ever, in my opinion.
