I've never seen a film she was in.

They always seemed kind of lame to me.

She was a fantastic actor and was in a lot of really entertaining and well made films. You should check out some of her films. You might actually enjoy them.

reply

didn't she do any christmas movies?

reply

Heidi is kind of Christmas-y.

reply

Damned if I know.

reply

ALI OWNS HER ENTIRE RESUME ON DVD...TOOK US YEARS TO COMPLETE IT.

reply

Which ones are her favourites?

reply

HEDI IS HER FAVORITE OF THE ONES SHE HAS WATCHED SO FAR...I THINK.

reply

That bad, huh?

reply

Maybe give Bright Eyes a try.

reply

Typed it on IMDb, saw the word "musical", closed the IMDb app in disappointment.

reply

There's a few songs, but not many in that one, I don't think. And the only one I can think off he bat you can easily skip and you won't miss anything. Seriously, the story isn't bad, and I think you'll have a few laughs. It's not really what I'd consider a musical at all.

reply

That's a sin for me. I can't skip movies.

reply

So watch it!

Me neither. I've seen clips of her in documentaries and whatnot. And I could probably sing you the chorus of On the Good Ship Lollipop. But, rightly or wrongly, I associate the name Shirley Temple with everything that's insufferably twee. So I've never seen any of her films and I'm in no great rush to do so. Maybe after I'm done with... every other film ever made, I'll get around to them.

reply

Her movies just feel so overly American to me. They got that cutesy "let's make a celebrity out if this girl" feeling where they feel more like a popularity experiment, rather than good movies.

reply

Yeah.

Again, I might be wrong because I've never seen any, but I just associate her with depression-era escapist wholesomeness. She looks like she belongs on a tin chocolate box from the 1880s. I'm sure she was very talented and all of that, but precocious children singing and dancing ain't my personal idea of entertainment. Seems very of its time and place to me.

But clearly she still has a following of sorts 90 years later, so maybe I'm way off-base. Still in no rush to find out though.

"Twee" is a great word you don't hear that often. 🤣

No.

reply

You don't like Blacks?

reply

Temple blacks are insufferable. Religious fanatics.

reply

I'd say I'm blacktose intolerant.

reply

I saw some as a child.

reply

I had my opportunities as a kid when I was at my aunt's house but I always avoided it. Too American for me.

reply

I can’t recall any of the plots - I just know that I saw some.

reply

I am watching Wee Willie Winkie now.
