Walk of Fame?!

They truly let anyone who acts into this club today. Gifted actors have waited decades for their shot. Now, it no longer takes anything special to get in.

Spread your venom somewhere else. Claire Danes has been delivering great work for over two decades now going back to 1994 when at age 15 she broke through with memorable performances in cult classics "Little Women" and "My So-Called Life". Since then she had played iconic roles on film (Juliet, Cosette), television (Temple Grandin) and stage (Eliza Doolittle), garnered rave reviews for indie films (Shopgirl, Stage Beauty, Evening, Me and Orson Welles), starred in beloved studio pictures (Stardust, The Family Stone) and was part of the illustrious cast of "The Hours" that received a Best Picture Oscar nomination. Right now she is considered one of the most acclaimed TV stars with 4 (!) Golden Globes, 3 Emmys and 2 SAG Awards under her belt, all for three remarkably challenging and wildly different roles (Angela Chase, Temple Grandin, Carrie Mathison) and all this before she even turned 35...long story short, she more than qualifies for an honour like Walk of Fame and since she is still young and really is one of the very best actresses of her generation, I'm fairly certain we haven't even seen the best of her just yet, either. So as I said : spread you venom somewhere else.

I first saw CD in an episode of Law & Order when she was about 14 or so, and I thought, wow, who's that girl!!!? In all the things you noted, she's gone on to impress us with her total immersion in her roles. Quite an amazing talent.
As for the foolishness spewed by the OP, while reasonable people's tastes can differ, a song from Mary Poppins, slightly modified, comes to mind:
Feed the trolls, tuppence a bag, tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag...

I have seen enough to know I have seen too much. -- ALOTO

I'm a troll for not being impressed by this actress?

reply

I have an opinion like anyone else. Venom would denote major sh*t talking, and I didn't do that. I'm just not at all impressed by this actress.

reply

Oh, please, you opened an entire new topic just so you can discredit her accomplishments although you didn't even provide an argument or examples or anything, you just stated - in rather arrogant and condescending manner I might add - that she is undeserving. That IS venom.

reply

You want someone to provide an argument or an example for why they aren't impressed by any actor's ability? I wouldn't even begin to guess how to do that. Maybe I've seen her in the wrong things, but this is simply my opinion and I feel that theWalk of Fame has been getting more relaxed in who they give stars to. This is my view point and your disagreement doesn't make me apologetic for it.

I don't need no stinking signature!

"You want someone to provide an argument or an example for why they aren't impressed by any actor's ability? "

Uhm, yes I do. Or does it sound too much to ask for a proper argument from someone who decided to devote an entire thread to a negative opinion ? I don't think so.

Look, all I can tell you is that I haven't seen her performance in anything impress me to a level where I see that she would be Walk of Fame material, so I'm surprised by it. Obviously you have seen the opposite, and I get that. What this comes down to is just differing opinions based on our own exposure and observations.

I formally offer up my apologies to Ms. Danes and to her fans who have taken issue with my perspective.
