Is he mounting a comeback into Hollywood?

Blood Father was awesome and now Hacksaw Ridge is incoming. Looks like he might be the next RDJ or Bafflek?

reply

I hope so. Unfortunately, I feel like Lionsgate really screwed up the release of Blood Father. It deserved a wide theatrical release. Given the rapturous response Hacksaw Ridge has received, Lionsgate probably should have waited until after Hacksaw Ridge to release Blood Father and do so in a wide release.

reply

Either way I reckon it'll still happen

reply

I hope he succeeds. He's sure working his ass off to get back in there. You can't say his performance in Blood Father wasn't passionate. Looking at the trailers for Hacksaw Ridge, you can't say he's not bringing all he knows to the screen.

I hope so too. He is happy from what I can tell now, just hope it continues.

I'm sending you a pm Luke. I have a question.

"Guys like you don't die on toilets." Mel Gibson-Riggs, Lethal Weapon

reply

No, he won't be the next RDJ or Bafflek. He's 60 years old.

reply

sort of

his days as a leading man are fading but he might keep getting important directorial projects

reply

Hey. If Tom Hanks can still be a great leading man / hero, I don't see why Mel can't. He's too good as an actor to let his talents go to waste with age behind the camera. Not that I'm saying anything against him as a director.

There are so many people that bring up Gibson's age. Look at Newman he was older then Gibson and still just as good as he ever was Age is a number not a restriction
