Do you think she's ever been bad in a film?

The worst I can think of is Batman Forever, but I wouldn't even say she was bad.

reply

That's far from her worst film.

Have you ever seen 2004's The Stepford Wives or 2005's Bewitched?

reply

No, haven't seen either.

reply

I don't think she was bad in either Stepford Wives or Bewitched. I thought her performance in bad films worked for those films.

reply

Admittedly, I misread the question, and after I posted, I just decided to keep the post unedited, simply to make my point that these are bad films, but, on balance, I agree with you. Kidman isn't the problem with those films. She's perfectly fine in them. It's everything else that sucks.

Still, I think she's better in Batman Forever than she is in either of those two misfires, and I'm not even a fan of Forever.

reply

Have to agree with that

reply

No, I don't think she was bad in any movie I have seen.

reply

She's good in just about everything...even when she looks nothing like her lovely self (i.e. Destroyer).

reply

I agree. I don't think she get enough respect as an actress. No one considers her one of the best actresses out there.

reply

She's got an Oscar, and has been nominated for an Academy Award on multiple occasions. She's pretty well-regarded as an actor.

reply

I know. But if you look at lists of best actresses of all time, her name won't come up. Instead you'll see names who have had bad performances.

reply

She's a decent actor, but do you think she has much range, and would you say there is much intensity to any of her work?

I like her, but I'm not sure how wide and deep her acting repertoire is.

reply

She's done comedy, drama, musicals and thrillers. I think she has enough range.

reply

She sucked in Batman but was fucking hot which is the only reason why I watch it.

reply

I thought she was fine considering there wasn't much in the screenplay.

I've been watching a few of them lately and from what I've seen, her early, pre-Hollywood films are mostly dreadful and there's nothing in her performances to suggest she was Hollywood-bound rather than Australian daytime soap opera fodder. But she was very young and nobody was giving her any decent material to work with anyway, so it's probably not fair to count anything before her star turn in Dead Calm.

I remember thinking she was fairly poor in Far & Away, but perhaps I couldn't get past the awful 'Oirish' accent.

But, other than that, I can't think of a bad performance. Some bad and mediocre films certainly -- as every working actor has -- but she's never the problem.

reply

I suppose she grew as an actor or was given better material.

reply

Yeah. Bit of both I think.

I AM NOT A FAN...NEVER HAVE BEEN...SHE IS THE WEAK SPOT OF MOST FILMS SHE IS IN FOR ME.

reply

So if you're not a fan, does that make you an air conditioner?

reply

TURBINE!

reply

I'd have to say Malice.

reply

Never seen it but I'll take your word for it. No one is perfect throughout their career.

reply

True
