I don't care what they say...he's a GREAT actor!

people just love to hate on him and target him when certain projects that he's involved in doesn't meet their expectations. one man can't ruin an entire film, you're giving him way too much credit.

as far as I'm concerned, he hasn't released a bad film. I first saw him in "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and than he kinda laid low for years, my guess is he was raising his daughter while his wife became a full time actress. when they finally divorced, that's when he became more involved in films and released a handful of great ones! so to judge his acting abilities based on one film isn't fair, you should have full knowledge of all his films before you make any kind of bad judgment about his work.

he's a great actor! he can do any kind of film.

He's incredibly underrated.
Considering how talented and attractive he is, it truly baffles me that he isn't an A-lister.

This is why your opinion isn't worth much. He's been in garbage other than 2 films, Gosford Park and Crash, both of which were notable for being excellent other than the poor performance submitted by Ryan Phillips.

I think he's a good actor.

I agree, he's really underrated.
I think I loved his performance in Flags of our Fathers best.
He brought subtleties to his role in Igby Goes Down, and stood his own in Gosford Park, and has done lots of interesting films with important themes.

I hope this new film Reclaim will really explore those psychological themes, and the stress a situation like that puts on a couple. Sounds promising, anyways.

The only thing agree from what you've actually talked is that His swweet ass is *beep* hot.

no, one man can't ruin a film, but it's still possible to rate a specific performance, no matter how good or bad the movie itself is.

anyway, i can see that some people might not mind phillipe. but saying he's a GREAT actor seems rather silly.

Well said..he doesn't throw himself into the Hollywood life just because he's an actor...love him

I thought Phillippe was really good in STOP-LOSS---not only one of the better performances I've seen from him, but one of the best films Ive seen him in---got the DVD because it's that good. (He was also pretty good as the murder suspect in THE LINCOLN LAWYER,another excellent film.) And,yeah, he's still smoking hot (he's always looked naturally young for his age, anyway) but at least he actually has the acting chops and talent to back that up----pretty boys with pretty faces come and go in the film industry all the time----folks with real talent manage to stay in the game for much, much longer. Apparently, he's not interested in doing the movie star thing, or he would have been one a long time ago if he really wanted to be----which is probably part of the reason he's still around, because some stars tend to burn easily and quickly, and many an actor/actress that has been hyped up to be the "next big thing", so to speak, for various reasons, turned out not to be said next big thing. I do think he's probably been kind of underrated because of his looks, like most good-looking and talented actors usually are. That having been said, I'm going to be watching this new series he's got coming up. Since he dosen't do TV too often, that should be interesting to see.
