He really disappeared after splitting with Reece

I think the last movie I saw him in was "Breach"

He's definitely taken a few steps back in the last decade. Not sure why he fell out of favor, but for whatever reason the producers must have stopped calling as much as they once did and the public also seemed to lose interest in him.

He was, however, the lead on the USA show Shooter, which ran for three seasons. That just wrapped up last year.

He also made his directorial debut in 2014 with a movie called Catching Hell and he had a major role in The Lincoln Lawyer with Matthew McConaughey in 2011.

Aside from the fall out of his marriage to Reese which had a negative tabloid affect on his career, I always thought he had more depth as an actor than many other leading men who got/get more roles than he does. I initially thought he was just a pretty boy but he's pretty good in most of what I've seen him in.

If you haven't seen it, go watch Way of the Gun. That's the movie that really showed me that he could do a role that was very different from everything he had done before. There's also an interesting story behind his hiring for that role.

Antitrust was another early film of his that I liked.

Funnily enough when I heard about Reece Witherspoon separating from her husband of 12 years, I had to confess the last time I knew anything about her love life was when she was with Ryan Phillippe. That then caused me to think "what ever happened to that guy ?" he was becoming a big name actor and then seemed to disappear. So I'm glad this message board has brought him up.

I agree. I watched Training Day the other day. The trivia on IMDB said they were considering Philippe for the role of Jake Hoyt. Then it hit me … what ever happened to Philippe? He was fairly big in the late 1990s - early 2000s . I haven’t heard anything about him in so long

Last time I saw him was in The Lincoln Lawyer.

I've seen him in a lot of films. He was surprisingly good in Flags Of Our Fathers.

He came a long way from his hilarious over-acting part in 'I Know What You Did Last Summer'. He really chewed the scenery in that film haha.

I liked 'The I Inside' (2004), though the final act seemed more muddy than intended. But, still good.
