Was Elisabeth Shue a true talent?

https://www.datalounge.com/thread/30881957-was-elizabeth-shue-a-true-talent-

She went from wholesome roles in films like Adventures in Babysitting and the Karate Kid, where she shone, to playing hookers in Leaving Las Vegas. Was she a one trick pony or did she have any actual range? I thought the movie with Cage was stark and her role, although well played, fairly unbelievable. She seemed to shine brightly for a time and then poof, disappeared.

You asked the same question 9 years ago

and I suspect the answer is still the same - she's still working in lead roles on TV and occasional films. Admittedly not a big name in big films but maybe she never wanted that?

I suspect TMZ-4 feels better about his own life failings by constantly asking why former stars are no longer famous.

I think you’re right, maybe she found fulfilment in her life outside of the entertainment industry, as unbelievable as that may be to old mate above.

The sounds like the old, tried and true "ad hominem" response. Instead of actually and directly addressing the subject at hand, you make a personal attack at the individual who started the discussion simply because you think that the entire premise of said discussion is stupid.

And that bothers you because...!? A lot can change in 9 years, you know that don't you? Just because I may have asked a similar question 9 years ago, doesn't mean that I have yet to get a legitimately helpful, insightful, or constructive answer.

Just an observation rather than a criticism - guess I could have added a smiley face?
But also, to be completely honest, there are so many of this question, they are mostly about actresses and the answer is nearly always the same - their career has followed a normal trajectory and many, perhaps most, are still working albeit less famously.😀

I think she wanted darker and more mature roles but going in that direction also cost her. I always thought she was hot and liked that she started doing.nude scenes. That said it's also a cliche thing that actresses with a wholesome image do to break away in an attempt to be taken seriously.
