What Happened to His Career

In the late 80's, early 90's, he was one of the biggest stars, then it just seemed liked his career went on a downward spiral and now he is appearing in a lot of low budget movies. The same with Val Kilmer. Both men were handsome, talented, and starred in some great movies, but what happened? Meanwhile, their contemporaries such as Brad Pitt, Keaneau Reeves, Johnny Depp, and Tom Cruise are doing really well.

Check out Mr. Robot, He Was A Quiet Man, Dolan's Cadillac, Slipstream, Love Lies Bleeding for good to awesome recent work. Two other films that he is amazing in, but the movies on a whole didn't match his talents were Freaky Deaky and Rites of Passage (his opus as a psychotic meth cook/addict who talks as, and to, his dead daughter's favorite stuffed animal).
He also gets rave reviews every year for theatrical work from Broadway to London. I think he will always do great work, but maybe isn't running back to stardom since those were dark days for him personally. Very few can handle the narcissism and people involved with stardom, most either turn to self medication or suicide to cope. I think it is cool that he is still popular, yet not a studio whore. Yet, with the buzz around Adderall Diaries and the fact that Mr. Robot is fantastic he may get the limelight intensity again...

Hard Rain happened, The studio put up $ 70 mill because they believed that CS was bankable. They ended up loosing $ 50 mill on that call. Slater never recovered...

Watche Mr. Robot!! It's definitely his comeback commercially and he's very good but the show is also so well written and had layered characters.
