After becoming Agent J's new partner at the end of Men In Black, Agent L was completely omitted from Men In Black II with little explanation.

I remember after he mindwiped Patrick Warburton, Zed made a comment that J had been wiping all his partners, including L, because he wasn't comfortable with anyone but K.
