Darryl Hannah v Laura Dern

Who's the better actress?

reply

Laura Dern

reply

Hannah was great in "Blade Runner" of course. But most her roles were in cheesy blockbusters, like "Splash".

Laura Dern is more artsy, the better actress. I like Dern for the David Lynch movies, "Wild at Heart" and "Blue Velvet".

I get the two mixed up though.

reply

I'd say Dern the better actress, but I usually enjoy watching Hannah more. Elle Driver is one of my favourite characters in Kill Bill.

reply

I HAVE AN ACTIVE DISLIKE FOR HANNAH AND AN ACTIVE CRUSH ON DERN...EASY CHOICE.

reply

Why such a dislike for Hannah?

reply

NO REAL ANSWER...SOMETHING ABOUT HER HAS ALWAYS BEEN LESS THAN LIKEABLE FOR ME...I DO ENJOY SPLASH AND BLADE RUNNER AND KILL BILL BUT BELIEVE HER ROLES COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER FILLED.

reply

Hmmm. I hate Kill Bill altogether. I tried watching it but gave up.

But Hannah was great as Pris in "Blade Runner". That alone makes me respect her skill as an actress.

JESSICA LANGE.

reply

MEG TILLY.

reply

Hmmm. Something about her I can't stand. But I guess she's a good actress.

reply

Meg Tilly, now there's one I liked. I have no idea what happened to her - it seems she disappeared. Or maybe she is still doing stuff, I really don't know. What I do know is I first saw her in "Psycho 2". Then a couple of other 80s movies - "The Big Chill" and "Masquerade" come to mind. I was really young at that point- I thought she was adorable (bit of a crush on her as well). Once the 90s rolled around, she was pretty much gone.

reply

I don't really know on that one. I never really cared for either. Well actually, ok, I can come up with one performance I liked by Darryl Hannah - "Kill Bill". She was good in that.

For Dern, eehh - maybe "Marriage Story".

Actually I think she won an Academy for that one - I could be wrong though.

reply

Have you seen Dern in the David Lynch films, "Blue Velvet" and "Wild at Heart"?

reply

Nope - haven't seen either. Let me see what I can think of with Laura Dern.

First time I saw her was "Jurassic Park"

I liked "Wild" so I remember her in that one

Oh yeah, she was in another one I liked - "Year of the Dog"

If I remember correctly she gets lambasted by Philip Seymour Hoffman in "The Master"

Yeah, that's it (aside from "Marriage Story"). I'm sure she has been in plenty of others - either I didn't see them or I just plain didn't notice her.
