What happened to her character in NCIS?
Obviously she was killed.
I mean why was she killed off?
Was she only ever hired to play a part for a short time or what?
My guess is that the actress wanted out.
shareI was wondering the same thing for a long time. Now I know that she wanted out. She wrote about it on her new website:
"To be honest, now that the work bug had bitten me again, I got bored with my part of the Director. Then the decision was made to kill me, and boy did they. About five different ways!"

She was getting bored, she didn't request to leave, killing off the character was 100% a storyline decision, at least according to the NCIS-writers.
