Spike is a major jerk for turning on Woody Allen, for profit

There is a fascinating and informative article about Woody Allen, or rather the scandalous attack on Woody by Mia Farrow.

Like Timothy Chalumet who claimed to have backstabbed Woody on this issue in order to increase his chances of winning an Academy Award ... what a jerk. There is right now a big incentive for Spike Lee who just release his latest Movie "Da 5 Bloods" ( you'd be better off seeing a few documentaries about black history or the Viet Nam war ) and certainly must want it to both do well and not be a lightning rod for Mia's minions to attack him and ruin the prospects for this latest movie.

Anyway, Spike is a real creep for doing that in my opinion.

If I'm reading this article correctly, Spike Lee spoke out against cancel culture and defended Woody as a great filmmaker on Friday and then on *Saturday* did a 180 on Twitter and hit out at Allen!?

This guy's deeply-held convictions about big issues (free speech and sexual assault, not the reputation of an auteur) spin around faster than Linda Blair's head!

Very disappointing, just as I finished watching his new movie, which despite some irritating flaw I have to rate as very high, maybe 9 or 10 out of 10. Maybe how it is being received makes him think that his defense of Woody might be the thing that holds his movie back from an Oscar.

To me, I just don't care. I think it was a real a-ho thing to do.

When Spike Lee writes, produces, and directs these movies about justice and morality and then pulls something like this, it undercuts his standing to even make movies ... and yet, there it is. Spike "fragged" his fellow soldier of the silver screen. Booooooo!

It's disappointing, yeah. I still respect Spike as a filmmaker, though. Do The Right Thing alone justifies his place in the pantheon.

reply

yeah, but I cannot forgive him personally for backstabbing woody ... or wearing those idiotic glasses. ;-)

Spike Lee has the full right to avoid conflict and protect his interests.

That said... it's quite hypocritical that the guy makes his pose as the "oppressed fighter against evil white racism"... "fighting" (cough cough) with the mainstream media and the forces in power patting him in the back. The moment he faces some REAL opposition that could cost him money, he cucks down.

Funny how Woody Allen, who always looked like a neurotic weak guy, in the moment of truth, he has more balls than all those "fighters against white evil white oppression". In the moment of truth, Woody Allen has more balls than 99% of Hollywood.
