God Awful

Anytime there is a preview of a new movie, or if I'm flipping through the guide and come across a film that has Matthew Lillard, there is, simply put, no mystery. Hold on tight, folks. You're about to watch, at best, a C-/D+ film.

I had someone tell me something to the effect of, "Well, he's a movie star, what are you?" First, my job/career is not who I am, it's what I do. Second, what I do is Corporate Finance as a senior analyst. Third, I'm very good at what I do. If I was a C-/D+ analyst, I'd be fired, so please, spare me the argument that he's somehow more accomplished than I because he's in the entertainment industry. It's pathetic to think that show biz folk automatically walk around with a halo over their heads.

On a 'kicking him while he's down' moment, I've literally seen spit protrude from the man's mouth on more than one occasion while acting...disgusting. My GF says that he seems like he has perpetual bad breath. Obviously, there's no basis for her comment, but it still made me laugh.

You are entitled to your opinion of course. I do have to ask though, how many of his movies have you seen?

Who cares what you do or who you are? The fact that you ranted about yourself for a lengthy post just proves your vast amounts of insecurities. Good luck in finance, dear. I'll still be watching everything that Lillard does...he's talented, charming, and has aged exceedingly well.

I hear ya, man. I don't think he's born for C-/D+ films only. Maybe if he was the main character I'd understand your point, but as a supporting character he is very successful. Scream wasn't anything like that, but that was because he wasn't the only one in it. No one can take him seriously because his stigma screams immaturity & disgust. Some have the unfortunate knack of having all the right qualities that one would hate. He's good as an actor because of it but he will never take any role that doesn't involve a level of immaturity, insensitivity, or demented qualities. It's a black cloud actually.

He knows he won't be taken seriously. I don't think he's in denial. He's not struggling as an actor. He's just doing what he can do to make the most of a bad situation probably since he was a kid. There's not much one can do with that look without getting plastic surgery to face, voice, etc. Maybe he might have considered it but discovered he'd make millions being THAT guy. Unlike some actors who were worth as much as baseball players, I doubt he's there but he's definitely an 8 figures actor. That's total budget, not per year. Per year, he might be between $250,000 to $3,000,000 a year for supporting roles.

Idiot

How is it his fault if a movie turns out bad? If he's not the writer or director, it's not exactly his fault.

RAWR!
