play Shaggy in Scooby Doo. It's like Shelley Duvall was born to play Olive Oyl. Matthew Lillard was born to play Shaggy. And he did it so well too! Definitely an underrated actor.

I actually agree.. I would love to see him get really serious, but he was perfect for that..

Looking for spoilers, are ya?

Yeah, even in Scream he was cracking jokes and providing the comic relief in the serious parts. I think one of the few films he was actually serious in was Thirteen Ghosts. And he was so good as a serious actor in too. Shame he never really crossed over to the really serious side of acting.

If you wish to see Matthew in a more serious/dramatic acting role, I recommend the following

The Groomsmen
One Of Our Own
What Love Is

If I hadn't found a post about this, I was going to create one. I'm glad he has gone on to voice Shaggy in other versions of Scooby-Doo instead of just playing him in the live-action movies.

@StarryKat, Where did you watch One Of Our Own? I've been trying to find it everywhere with no luck and I'd really love to see it.

He has a really good acting range. You should see him in the Law and Order SVU episode "Ballerina".

reply

Yeah I've seen him in that. Very creepy/disturbing! That's the one with Carol Burnett, isn't it?
