Do you seriously believe this man is a fantastic actor? I've just finished watching "In the name of the the king" a (bad) Statham movie. Lillard is a terrible over-actor. Watching him it seems like he wants to make his characters into screwball jokes. His level and of acting is basically the same in any movie he has ever done and he has a very limited range. He is a terrible terrible actor. I truly do not understand why this guy still finds work. On top of that I read in an interview that he thinks of himself as a fine actor. At least someone like Keanu Reeves (a bad actor but still watchable) has the sense to say his skill is limited.

Okay calm down Tex. I did see most of the movies you quoted. At the very best his performance is just ok, most of the time his acting is like I said over the top IMHO. To be clear my reaction was directed towards people believing that he is an underrated top actor. The reason why you do not see him in "non-popcorn" movies is simply because he isn't that good of an actor. Again IMO.

I loved him in SLC Punk, but his goofiness and character in that movie has basically been redone in everything else.

I can name worse actors than Matt. George Clooney and Jennifer Aniston.
if these two are starring in a movie, you know it's going to be bad. As for Matt, he does a good acting job most of the time, and his movies are entertaining. George and Jen's movie are boring.

And the reason why he isn't a household name is because he doesn't get in trouble all the time, and stays out of the limelight. As for Clooney, he has won awards for reasons I don't know why because he's a one note actor. He also keeps in the spotlight because the media loves his left-winged BS. Jen is famous for friends and for having sex with every guy in Hollywood.

Jesus Christ, are you *beep* serious? Watching Tinylard (even having to type his name makes my skin crawl) is precisely what MAKES me want to slash my throat! I hope it never comes to this, but if I ever have to end it all, I will clearly specify it in my note that it was his seizure-inducing, face-MASSIVELY-contorting-into-cretinous-over-the-top-unnecessary-expressions during his execrable, ludicrous performances that drove me over the edge. "Scream"???? Are you joking?? That's one of the performances which most perfectly showcases his absurd, over-the-top, no-volume-control, no-corelation-to-the-script-material, one-note "acting". I have just finished re-watching Scream tonight, so my memory isn't coloured by the passage of time, but I saw the denouement first, which contains his crowning nadir, and then I watched it from the start, and by that point, I'd had all I can stomach of 'lard, so whenever he was on screen I spent my time actively looking ANYWHERE ELSE BUT his stupid face (easily enough done with Rose McGowan in her lovely prime sitting right next to him) or wanting to throttle him just to stop the onslaught of stupid *beep* GURNING he was endlessly pulling out of -presumably- his assh*le. By the way, I'm not saying Rose McGowan is anywhere near a good actress (catching the odd couple of minutes every now and again of her role in Charmed was downright PAINFUL to see), but here she was actually passable, and compared to him, she was practically excellent.
