I wondered this too. Are people dying of alopecia? Is it just a fancy word for nothing other than hair loss? If it’s a sensitive topic then get a wig. If no wig, people will assume it’s not a sensitive issue.

Particularly given that black women normally wear wigs, which they call weaves.
