I was watching the documentary America: The Story of Us on the History Channel last night and it said he narrated it? His page however doesn't say that and the voice sounded NOTHING like him. Anyone know anything about it? I mean, obviously it's true since it was on the credits but it didn't sound like him at all.

shareYep it's him. His page lists him an narrator under the "Himself" section. His voice on "America" sounds more like his character Vilma from Taking Woodstock.
shareI know, that's what I thought too when I saw that he was the narrator. The whole time I was watching I thought his voice sounded familiar but the narrator has a very particular way of talking. It's like he is talking very precisely with pronunciation. That's why it doesn't sound like he normally talks in movies.
shareHe's a fabulous narrator, and yes, his voice doesn't have the sometimes lighter and sometimes comical sound to it as it does when he is acting. As a narrator, he's much sought after and has done wonderful work. I especially like his sports documentary work. He did "the dodgers of flatbush," a great documentary on the dodgers, them acquiring Jackie Robinson, and the intrigue of their move to Los Angeles (which I was witness to as a kid, not believing they would actually come to L.A. where I lived, then finding out they, indeed, were coming!!!), and the stupidity of New York losing two major league teams at the same time. The dumbest move by any city in the nation.
