I wish he had done more Altman pics


He was great in MASH and Thieves Like Us and did a convincing Southern accent in both despite not having that in his background. I can think of several Altman films where he would have been perfect.

He was better when he was younger. After Alien he kind of just plays himself, like Harry Dean Stanton does in all of his movies. I guess directors and producers like that

Concerning Skerritt, if being likable is a bad trait -- give ME some of that !
He played the Dad in the wonderful small film A River Runs Through It.
Was he a highlight? Maybe not, but he didn't take away from it either.
I find his presence to be very comforting in his older roles, and one or two of his turns in Gunsmoke (when he was young) were excellent.

His role in ARRTI was pretty standard faire imho. When he was younger he was edgier whether he was likeable or despicable. Val Kilmer went the same direction after "Heat" and then he did a batch of uninspired roles, Batman, and so on.
