Playing Jesus ruined his career

As well-cast as he was (except for the prosthetic nose, what was up with that?!), that single role has type-casted him. I mean, this guy should be in blockbusters, and he's relegated to doing HBO or other cable movies. He could just as easily be cast in similar roles that Christian Bale is in.

Don't forget the yellow-brown contact lenses.

He was great in that role. It's a shame liberals don't judge actors based on their acting, but on their politics. Because he played Christ in the Mel Gibson movie, his career was ruined. Mel Gibson's career was ruined after that too. What a pity.

I think it depends on how you define "ruined". Maybe as far as Jim is concerned, it was well worth it and he wouldn't trade it for a single blockbuster imaginable.

reply

Maybe you're right. But if that was the case, why continue working at all, particularly doing cable television? Surely playing such a noble role could have inspired him to do better.

reply

It would appear that the Christ role put a stigma on him.

reply

Not to mention a stigmata.
