Because his religious beliefs and the people he may influence are against embryonic stem cell research which is something that could cure countless diseases and end suffering for millions. There's no valid argument against this because they are based on religion, not science. I'll still watch The Thin Red Line, he was great in that movie (before he got political), but otherwise Jim can fuck off.
