What happened to this guy's career?

He was the new "hot" actor in the late nineties and seemed to have a lot of steam, but haven't seen him in anything popular since. I guess he didn't catch on, lol.

Oh, he told you this personally?

Give Ralph Fiennes what he's been owed since Schindler's List - His Oscar!

No its a known thing. he turned lots of roles in HUGE studio movies around that time because he prefers indie flicks and theatre work.

Most actors who are serious about ACTING and not about being famous would be more than thrilled to have the careers that Joseph and Ralph have, it isn't always about being in a blockbuster. Joseph works steadily and he has been in some very good films. He's a wonderful actor and should be proud. I for one am glad he isn't turning out rubbish just to be famous.

Life is tough. Its tougher if you're stupid

*LOL* I think if given a choice between the two, more actors would follow Ralph's career path over Joseph's. I'm afraid that Joseph has turned out quite a few "rubbish" films. Just because a movie is independently produced, doesn't automatically make it high quality.

I agree with you to an extent. He made a few bad choices post Shakespeare in love (he looked pretty in "Killing me softly" but the film is frankly dreadfull for a start, Rancid Aliminum etc) , but I think he's getting back on track. He got strong reviews for "Running with scissors" even if the film as a whole was a bit of a mess and it seems like he has some really interesting films coming up.

He also went back to theatre for a while, which might partly explain why he hasnt been spotted in many films over the past decade.

Are you Mélicious enough to handle me???

reply

*LOL* And? Ralph has and still goes back and forth between doing films and theatre, and some of his plays are transcontinental. He's not the only one, either. A lot of British actors do that.
