He's one fellow that died too soon, by today's expectations. He was only 68. His father died even younger, at 57. But his mother lived to 81.

True but he was cheerful to the end. When he was in the hospital undergoing treatment, he heard there was a child in the cancer ward who was a fan. He had his wife bring his hat and then went to visit the kid.

I loved the Skipper! Alan was my favorite character on Gilligan's Island. God bless him.

I concur. I use to love watching Gilligan's Island marathons on TBS and TNT back in the 1990s.
