I just read that he has actually retired from acting after leaving NCIS. Is that true?

I don't see him listed on IMDb as having any upcoming projects. Here are a couple of articles from 2022. It sounds as though he is open to the possibility of still making some appearances on NCIS:

I’d love to see him and Michael Weatherly come back together for an episode or two.

He doesn’t have anything coming up either.
