I'M SORRY TO SAY THIS, BUT...

...I am NOT a fan of Mary Tyler Moore, and never was.

IMHO, she was greatly overrated as an actress, and her mannerisms irritated me unendurably.
I did love THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW, but that was in spite of--not because of--its star.
This show had clever scripts, good direction, and an excellent ensemble of supporting actors: Ed Asner, Valerie Harper, Ted Knight, Betty White, Cloris Leachman, and Gavin McCleod.
And it was a groundbreaker in depicting an independent career woman, although I found the character of Mary Richards extremely annoying, especially in the first few seasons.
I feel the same way about her whiny Laura Petrie on THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW.

It's good that she devoted herself to social causes, such as animal rights and juvenile diabetes, but that doesn't make her another Mother Teresa!

But, condolences to her husband and friends.

Oh yes you will. You're the one who starts all the arguments! It is your only human contact!

Nasty old queen.

Mary Tyler Moore will still be loved and remembered 20 years after the remains of the cretinous OP have been shat out of the worms that ate his/its corpse.

She who laughs last laughs best.

And that’s not even to mention all the joy the lady gave to the world, versus whatever “joy” the OP managed to eke out.

The OP is like the asshole who murdered John Lennon. His only chance for notoriety is to besmirch a legend. His pic is next to the word “pathetic” in the dictionary.

Back when the show was at its peak, my dad said “the Mary Tyler Moore show is great… despite Mary Tyler Moore”

She was incredible as the distant and dysfunctional mother in “Ordinary People”. She was nominated for Best Actress for that one.
