I always thought it was very smooth and sonorous. It has a bit of a gravelly edge to it, though, rather like Jeremy Irons.

If anything, he should be on the overrated list. He has a very sensual voice, but sometimes it just rubs me the wrong way somehow. It's rather nasal, and besides, his voice gets a hell of a lot of praise.
