He was an independent filmmaker that gave us some classics of the horror genre. He didn't follow the trends, was an original throughout his career.

Dolls, From Beyond, Dagon, and of course the outrageous and hilarious Re-Animator among others.

after that...garbage,
but those classics will never be forgotten
