he shouldn't direct no more

i have just seen Noah. after that piece of crap, he should retire

reply

honestly, that movie was so bad I have lost almost all faith in him....

reply

Maybe you shouldn't post no more after wanting one of the modern greats to retire on the basis of one film going over your head.

reply

Noah was a good film. He should definitely continue to make films.

reply

He should go back to his indie roots. I wonder what will be next. He seems to have lost all his inspiration and drive. I mean, anytime you are inspired to develop projects based on things you wrote when you were ten. You can do better.

reply

By your logic, and poor English, he *should* continue directing. "He shouldn't direct no more" is a double negative - You're actually saying he should. And I wholeheartedly agree. He *should* continue directing. I agree that 'Noah' was his weakest film. However, he is a brilliant filmmaker.

reply

It was more unusual and less conventional than his other films which are quite conformists despite being considered indie. Fountain was a glorified music vid. Requiem, Wrestler, Pi, and Swan are pretty much the same Lazarus flew too close to the sun allegory.

Modern greats?
There's a big hype machine around this director - everyone saying he's a genius, yet his films are poor. All his films fall apart at some point - like David Lynch's (excluding Elephant Man).
Requiem For A Dream just had an interesting title and a decent theme tune.
Black Swan was his most entertaining - but became ludicrously laughable! The Wrestler was extremely formulaic and had a boring script. The Fountain was...a have no idea what that was...it was a farcical mess!
Noah had rock monsters.
Overrated filmmaker.
