Sean to Seann ... why the change?

According to IMDB, he was born as Sean William Scott and that's the way he spelled it in his early films. Why did he change the spelling to Seann?

Was looking on the AMERICAN PIE page (never seen any of those films, not my type) and found this actor was in all of them. It seemed like he was everywhere for a hot minute in the late '90s and early '00s with films like that sequel to AMERICAN WEREWOLF, THE RUNDOWN (which he was crazy in) and BULLETPROOF MONK, and that he was gonna be somewhat of a name, but that didn't happen---THE DUKES OF HAZZARD (which I've never seen either) being a big flop and THE RUNDOWN not doing as well as expected at the time seemed to have put a damper on that. He looks even better now that he's older,though---didn't even know he was still acting, because I don't recall seeing him in much of anything for the last decade.

Probably had something to do with another Sean William Scott or Sean Scott in the actors guild or something, so he wanted to set himself apart - or was forced to. Like Samm Levine.

Goon is his best film for me!
