a genius

Seann William Scott is a true comedic genius.

He is the man - the funniest guy on screen for the past 13 years (since his first breakthru with American Pie in 1999).
I haven't seen his earlier work, maybe he's been the funniest even longer. Haha..
He gets too many typecast roles, sure. But he always delivers the best he can. He really seems to enjoy what he is doing.
That's why Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller and the whole fake-gang will never be as good as Seann William Scott.

For example..
Just imagine Seann and Barack Obama on stage and imagine Seann just staring at the teleprompter puppet.
That would be hilarious.

Yes, well, quite probably, he is a genius, and very good observator, and also as story teller. Unfortunately, he is also a little bit, ... lazy, ... and probably more than just a little (not at work, but at getting work, precision was required, because when he involves himself, he is really involved). In fact, he seems to perform better when under a high level of stress.

Dude Where is my car? is a good example of what he was doing, early... at least, that surprised me (when I saw it, five to six years after its initial release, me too, surprised by what that guy was able to do).

He is one of the few comic where you cannot really say that he has a style like you can say "this is Adam Sandler style", or this is "Eddie Murphy style", since he was able to renew his play for different characters, things that Sandler had problem in renewing his own style, for new characters. But even a genius will end by repeating himself, and because there is room in being recognized for "serious" roles, I hope that he will move away from comic comedies. But sure, that choice is maybe not only his own ... And if only he could put the same energy in that goal than he did, in the first place, to get a part of the action in American Pie, his first (real) movie... from here, it is far, but it seems he can make it, and make it spectacular.

He is also a great human being, helping others a lot, more than otherwise, without making his acts publicly known.

Vanderghast, you've suggested in a few posts that Seann is 'lazy', I'm curious, what makes you think that?

reply

Seann mentionned it, himself, in an interview. But maybe in the same way that when you could say: "I am so stupid". That is, you tell it, it is fine, but you won't necessary like when others will repeat it, after! :-) (That is not to know me, unfortunately :-) ).

But you have to take "lazy" as not overly pro-active. You can also see it as not being agressively competitive: if he knows that another actor is also a candidate for the movie (like he did for "Butterfly Effect"), he seems to let the other actor win, for all practical purpose, prefering to keep the human relation with the actor at its best, rather than having to face him, in the future, with the idea that possibly the other actor would think that Seann has been somehow "dirty" to get the job. "Lazy" as "candide", in that case, as it seems also applicable to describe Seann.

Don't let any doubt in your mind, when he has the job, the rumor is that he is as intense as, by example, Ryan Gosling could be.

reply

Ryan Gosling 'intense' LOL!!!!!!!!

reply

That is from a comment made by Nick Cassavetes, about how Gosling was working for the movie, on the DVD, "close" to the scene of the roller-coaster.

I don't understand what would possess anyone to go around imdb and follow, of all people, sean william scott, his movies and defend every post about him. You have to be related to the guy. You certainly don't work for an agency or anything because you can't string together more than two sentences that make any sense whatsoever. And i'm not talking about just grammar and spelling either. You sound like a wandering drug addict. Either way I find it absurd. If you are just some random person who doesn't speak english very well and is obsessed with SWS, I find that fascinating. That said, he seems like a cool guy, hes not a good actor but hes not bad either. He seems to do the best job anyone could do in the roles hes given. Hes a little type casted, but hes a funny guy and hes not particularly bad. I do think the guy from Workaholics is going to replace his roles, they look the same, but the other kid is younger and funnier.

At least you had something to say which was not just about me. Else, I would have suggested that you were in the wrong forum, since this forum is not about me, in case you failled to note it.

About spelling, you are sure it is "Hes a little type casted" ?

For your info, I am not related to this guy, neither am I a drug addict. Your assumptions were wrong. As for something being "strange" to you, since I don't know you, all what I can tell is that indeed, there are things which are "stange" in this world, but most of the time, it is related to a large part of ignorance from the one who make such judgement.
