For a two-time Oscar winner...

Her career is incredibly lukewarm and mediocre. This is not meant as a hating post, just an observation. She has achieved such rarified air over the past seventeen years. You'd imagine producers and directors would have been constantly kicking in her door, yet all she has done since Million Dollar Baby is crap like The Reaping and PS I Love You. She should be at the Meryl Streep tier, but she's more like a Katherine Heigl.

I agree. She should be thought of as one of the top actresses of her generation. Some actresses are much more popular without even having won one Oscar. And she's won TWO and deserved and earned both wins.

I couldn't agree more. After the hugely successful and brilliant Million Dollar Baby , I would have expected more great things from her but looking at her filmography there is nothing.

Here's an interesting article on that very subject:

Agreed. Also confused.

P.S. I Love You was at least a box office hit and I quite enjoyed it myself.

Anyway, I otherwise agree with every single word I just quoted.

Her first Oscar is one of the most deserving of the last few decades, and while there were performances I preferred to her second win, it was an excellent performance and not undeserving of the award.

She is a fairly limited actress but struck it lucky with two roles which fit beautifully within those limits and she knocked them both out of the park.

I also enjoy her performances in Insomnia and Freedom Writers, so she is more than a one (well, two)-trick pony. The only film I have seen her in in the last few years is Logan Lucky, in which she was awful - standing out as such from an otherwise excellent cast.
