Feel bad for the guy..

I've seen his other films (my favorite being "Shattered Glass") and he's not a bad actor at all. In fact, he's a fantastic actor. I feel like it's Lucas's fault, because bad scripts = bad acting. There's only so much actors can do with a script that poorly written, and a film that emphasizes the stunning action and graphics. Sigh.

Actually, I think he's phenomenal. And he's got nothing going on? Wrong.

I'm actually very balanced. I have a chip on both shoulders.

We all know by now that Star Wars screwed up his career. Natalie Portman was fortunate to come out of this thing intact. She even said that Star Wars almost ruined her career. She literally had to beg to get cast for good roles.

I really wish that Christensen would have kept on pursuing quality scripts, instead of accepting junk after junk. It's a shame that few even know about Shattered Glass as well as his earlier works. Because if they did, he would have had a different career.

reply

Exactly. Even Liam Neeson regretted doing it because it was such a poor script. I felt all the actors became apart of it because they thought it was going to be a good script, good action sequences and a film series that would change their careers for the better. Unfortunately, George had a poor execution.

Meh, he did the best with what he was given to work with and his likeness will be around forever so don't feel too bad for him.

Sometimes it works out like that. Fans placed the blame on him and he became the scapegoat. I actually liked the prequels I think he was a good choice for Anakin. He actually grows more in Return of the Sith. He was also an unknown, so people basically know him for Star Wars and not for anything else he has done. His career was doing ok until 2008. He was still doing widely released films still working with important people, but after that it seems he's done some poor choices and then he disappeared between 2010-2014. His two last movies were not very good. I wish he could star in an A film again. But I doubt studios are gonna risk casting someone with such reputation. I'd like him to do some independent dramas that could get him some recognition so that he can move on to bigger projects.

I don't think he's good or bad, he just tends to choose characters who are awkward. Shattered Glass, Life as a House, Jumper. His natural awkwardness fits the characters but makes him uncomfortable to watch.

With Star Wars he was given the impossible task of playing one of the most iconic characters ever. Plus the bad script and trying to act with all that cgi must have made it even more difficult.

Shattered Glass is one of my favorite films. I thought Hayden played Stephen Glass brilliantly. You can see exactly how Glass manipulates and lies to people. Once Glass's life starts falling apart, Hayden plays Glass in all his whiny, sniveling glory. Hayden is merciless in how he portrays Glass.

I feel bad when people place all the blame on him when I feel it belongs more on George. I don't think he will ever get a chance to really show people that he can act.
